The only award
Kiyohime-Go received from Akiho as a bitch was the Sakushutsu Korosho (Award For Producing
Outstanding Dogs). She was an outstanding dog from a breeding of the Ichinoseki and Taihei
lines, but had features of the Taihei line. Her adequate height with a beautiful red coat
showed dignity. In the ring, her bearing exceeded others and took Akikyos first
place in the female class.
Sample of Kiyohime-go Pelt (photographed in Japan)
Taihei-Go produced Yohei? (Tomohira?) which produced Fudo,
which produced Akemi. From Akemi came Meigyoku and Tamakiyo and Kiyohime became the
foundation bitch of many outstanding red dogs and contributed much to the shaping of Akita
dogs that followed.
Tamakumo and Kiyohime produced Kiyome, which produced
Daiunme to continue to Kumohibiki, Nanun and on to Kumomaru and Tetsuyuki (litter mate of
Kumomaru). Senzan and Kiyohime produced Yayoi. Yayoi and Tamakumo produced Jurome. Jurome
and Tanihibiki produced Tanigumo which produced Rikimaru, and on to Kumomaru. From Unjo
came Muchi which produced Hachiman which produced Azumazakura and so on. Of the main
bloodlines of the brindle, red sesame, red and white coats, not only are they being
continued, but are maintaining the Akita dogs basic foundation features, purifying
the lines and preventing its deterioration.
With fewer foundation bitches available, some of their
excellent features may be eclipsed by the features of the more numerous male foundation
dogs.
A bloodline may be popular for period, but may soon go into
a decline and be forgotten. However, the persistence of certain features from a bloodline
of the past may indicate the heavy influence of that bloodline.
Among the postwar Akita dogs, such as Kiyohime-Go that had
the features of the Taihei line, one could say that dogs such as Goromaru and Tamakumo of
the Ichinoseki line were possible.
Although the red coat is popular today, the original kihaku
(vim, spirit, vigor) , shape, coat color needs to be restored. That is, one should strive
to produce a type of dog from the wild with dignity-------
